A.R.I.P.T.Fo.R.P. (Association for Interdisciplinary Research in Tourism Psychology - Training, Research, Planning) is committed to exploring new forms of tourism that have a positive impact on participants, both individually, in terms of self-awareness and understanding of others, and socially and culturally, through a focus on enhancing the local area and respecting and preserving the surrounding natural environment. The research and experiments proposed by the Association go beyond laying the theoretical foundations for a possible alternative tourism system. They also explore, through projects and practical proposals, the impact that innovative forms of tourism can have on individual well-being and on the awareness of how certain behaviors can significantly impact real life and the surrounding environment. One of the most recent proposals focuses on social tourism, which is developed from an intergenerational perspective. This is therefore a widely tested alternative form of tourism, now in its twenty-second year (in Viterbo). The term "Grandparents and Grandchildren" evokes a welcoming, emotionally connected environment, similar to a family, even though there are no actual family ties between the participants; it was created as an opportunity for different age groups to meet and exchange ideas.
